Skyaid Watch Just-In-Time Health Information added 09/29/01 Some Skyaid Watch models could to provide information about diagnosis and actions to be taken in case of a stroke, heart attack, and other life threatening emergencies. This information would be provided via voice-mail over the radio communication link - preferably meteor-burst communications. I became aware that it is very difficult to educate the public about what they should do IN CASE of a stroke, etc. The August issue of Bottom Line newsletter has a 2 page article by Dr. Thomas Brott. The article includes the following pieces of information that a person should somehow remember.
This is far too much information for a person to remember. It is important that a person be able to get access to this information if the need should ever arise. Some health organizations have excellent consulting nurses which provide this kind of information (and lots more). The Skyaid Watch could also be a provider. It might also be able to provide the names of appropriate local hospitals and some indication of the person's medical history. Note on item by Dr. Brott: at http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/health/WABC_oncall_052801stroke.html Doctor Thomas Brott says less than thirty percent of patients who receive it significantly benefit. Now, a new delivery method, Intra-Arterial, or I.A. may double that recovery rate. It involves threading a catheter to the brain where the stroke occurred. "The advantage of the IV is speed. The advantage of the I.A. is you can put the medicine right next to the blood clot."
