Latest description of Digital Angel from Business 2.0 March 2002 page 114.

Somewhere between the oft-mocked "I've fallen and I can't get up" scenario and fanciful Hollywood-thriller technology lies the new Digital Angel system by Applied Digital Solutions. The pager and wrist-monitor system keeps track of the wearer's location and body temperature and sends out alerts when either one exceeds a preset parameter. The location boundary, measured in square miles, can be monitored on the company's website. While this might smack of house arrest to some, it can mean the difference between life and death to a loved one prone to wandering or a hiker stuck in a perilous situation. The system's 911 button alerts caregivers and EMS authorities in the event of an emergency, and Life Alert jokes aside, there's also an optional "sudden fall" sensor, which sends an e-mail or text message to a designated contact, who can then view a map of the wearer's whereabouts. If the contact doesn't respond, Digital Angel follows up with a telephone call, giving peace of mind to infrequent e-mail users as well.  $299, plus $29.99 monthly service fee; 866-348-5264;   from http://www.business2.com/articles/mag/0,1640,37634,FF.html
The person must wear both a wristwatch and a pager!
